#22 Alabama Defeats Indiana, 8-3, In The Second Of A Two-Game Series



PELHAM, Ala. - #22 Alabama defeated Indiana, 8-3, in the second of a two-game series on Saturday night. Junior Taylor Joseph earned a hat trick in tonight’s match.

Sam Messina struck the first goal of the game just nine seconds into the first. Shortly after, Taylor Joseph scored another for Alabama with assists from Jack Rooney and Pierre Ouellette.

Joseph scored again with assists from Dylan Teed and Jeremy Hannah, and 8:06 left in the first. Minutes later, a penalty was called on Indiana’s Drew Medema for roughing. Indiana’s Colan Fitzgerald was able to score a short-handed goal to cut Alabama’s lead to 3-1 at the end of the period.

The second remained quiet on the ice until 9:22 into the period when Jeremy Hannah put another goal on the board for Alabama. With 5:34 remaining, Joseph and Hannah received back-to-back penalties. Dane Sana scored with assists from Vaughan Kavanaugh and James Benedetto to raise Alabama’s lead to 5-1 at the end of the second.

Indiana’s Everhett Grimes scored 3:20 into the third period. With 9:05 left on the clock, Joseph scored to earn a hat trick and immediately after, Nick Messina scored with assists from Josh Mooncotch and Taylor Bowman to secure Alabama’s win, 8-3.
