#22 Alabama Conquers Indiana, 7-2, In The First Of A Two-Game Series



PELHAM, Ala. - #22 Alabama beat Indiana University, 7-2, in the first of a two-game series on Friday night. Senior Jack Rooney leads the team in points with a total of 32 this season.

Felix Conrads struck the first goal of the game 15:12 into the first to put Alabama in the lead, 1-0, at the end of the period. The assist was credited to James Benedetto.

Nick Messina scored unassisted 6:19 into the second period. At the same time, Timmy Kirkwood was sent to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Indiana’s Trent Kunas scored, immediately after Kirkwood returned to the ice, to cut Alabama’s lead to 2-1. With 3:05 left in the second, Ryan Johnson scored with assists from Andrew Durkin and Mike DeLise to up Alabama’s lead to two goals.

About five minutes into the third, Dylan Teed scored with assists from Pierre Ouellette and Jack Rooney. With 7:02 left on the clock, Taylor Bowman received a minor penalty for tripping. Jack Jordan responded with a power play goal to put another point on the board for Indiana.

With just 4:34 remaining the game, Taylor Joseph put another one in the net for Alabama. Nick Messina and Sam Messina scored back-to-back goals with about a minute left to secure Alabama’s win, 7-2.
