Sam Fleming To Call ACHA-D1 National Games
Tuscaloosa, Ala. - Alabama Hockey’s Director of Broadcast, Sam Fleming, will call a number of games at the American Collegiate Hockey Association division I nationals. The playoff will take place at the Columbus Blue Jackets’ practice arena in Columbus, Ohio, from March 8 until March 12.
Kyle Richards, Alabama Hockey head coach, informed Fleming about the opportunity. Both Fleming and Richards reached out to Aj Boldan, executive producer of ACHA’s national broadcast, and Matt Komma, Utah University’s director of broadcasting. Boldan and Komma offered Fleming the position on Monday, Feb. 19.
“It’s really a no brainer that Sam is a great candidate,” Richards said. “He’s dedicated, passionate and really good at what he does.”
The championship will hold 20 teams from the ACHA division one league. Alabama is part of the league but will not be competing in this year’s national tournament. Fleming says he is looking forward to representing the program at an event that holds teams from all over the United States.
Fleming is a sophomore at the University of Alabama studying general business. He is on his second season working with the Alabama Hockey team, interning as a color analyst for the first.
“I really appreciate the fans’ support game in and game and out,” Fleming said.”I enjoy meeting everyone and seeing where fans listen from. It means so much throughout the entire season.”
