#22 Alabama Conquers Utah, 3-1, To Earn Series Sweep
GAME #26 - #22 ALABAMA 3, UTAH 1
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - #22 Alabama conquered Utah, 3-1, in the second of a two-game series to make it a sweep on Saturday night. Freshman Garret Kingsbury stopped 38 shots in tonight’s match.
The first went scoreless with total shots on goal being 14-12 in favor of Alabama. The period held two minor penalties for Utah and one for Alabama.
With 9:33 left to play in the second, Utah’s Lane Bridges received two penalties - one for tripping and one for slashing. Taylor Bowman was able to take advantage of the four minute power play to score the first goal of the game with assists from Jon Lovorn and Nick Messina.
Immediately into the third, Bowman was sent to the box for holding. Utah’s Otto Chao responded with a power play goal to tie the game, 1-1.
Utah’s Darren Banks received a penalty for slashing with 9:10 remaining in the game. Taylor Joseph scored seconds later with assists from Dylan Teed and Jack Rooney to put Alabama back in the lead. With 4:59 on the clock, Ryan Johnson scored the game winning goal to secure Alabama’s win, 3-1.
