#22 Alabama defeats Duquesne, 8-6, In The First Of A Two-Game Series

PELHAM, Ala. - #22 Alabama defeated Duquesne, 8-6, in the first of a two-game series on Friday night. Six Alabama players recorded a multi-point game in tonight’s match.
The first held little action until 14:08 into the period when Duquesne’s Luke Gross struck the first goal of the game. Nick Messina responded with a goal about a minute later to tie the game, 1-1. With 1:04 left in the first, Jack Rooney scored with an assist from Jon Lovorn to put Alabama in the lead by one at the end of the period.
The second period saw plenty of back and forth action on the ice. Immediately, Taylor Bowman scored with an assist from Lovorn to raise Alabama’s lead, 3-1. However, with 13:24 left in the period, Duquesne’s Sean Lloyd scored to cut Alabama’s lead back to one goal.
Just a minute later, Taylor Joseph scored with assists from Rooney and Dylan Teed. But, Duquesne scored back-to-back goals with 11:48 left in the second, to tie the game to 4-4.
With 6:16 left in the period, Pierre Ouellette scored with an assist from Jeremy Hannah. Shortly after, Duquesne put the puck in the net to tie the game again, 5-5, at the end of the second.
Taylor Joseph scored with assists from Lovorn and Teed, and 8:31 left in the game to raise Alabama’s lead, 6-5. Minutes later, Duquesne’s Tim Freed responded with a goal to tie the game once more.
With 5:28 left to play in the game, Nick Messina scored with an assist from Bowman and with 1:03 on the clock, Jeremy Hannah struck the game winning goal.
