GAME #20 - #27 JOHN CARROLL 3, #22 ALABAMA 2
PELHAM, Ala. – Alabama dropped to John Carroll, 2-3, in the second of a two-game series on Saturday night. Junior Taylor Joseph recorded his 75th career point in tonight’s contest.
Although the first period went scoreless, there was plenty of back and forth action on the ice with total shots on goal being 14-12, in favor of John Carroll. About five minutes into the period, Vaughan Kavanaugh received a penalty for roughing and shortly after, Jon Lovorn joined him in the box but Alabama successfully killed both penalties.
John Carroll’s Evan Krueger scored the first goal of the game 28 seconds into the second period. Immediately after, John Carroll struck again with a goal from John McMahon assisted by Chris LaLiberte.
Dane Sana put the puck in the net 9:51 into the second period with an assist from Jon Lovorn and cut John Carroll’s lead to one goal. Minutes later, Jeremy Hannah scored with an assist from Taylor Joseph to tie the game, 2-2.
With 5:17 left in the second period, Marc Demers received a five minute major penalty for boarding and John Carroll’s LaLiberte was sent to the box for two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Kreuger scored to put John Carroll back in the lead with 10:54 left to play in the third period. Alabama pulled goaltender Garret Kingsbury to add an extra skater with 1:30 left to play in the game but was unable to score.
