#20 Alabama Falls To Mercyhurst, 4-3, In Overtime



PELHAM, Ala. – Alabama fell to Mercyhurst, 4-3, in overtime on Sunday. Dylan Teed marked his 93rd career point in today’s game.

Jon Lovorn struck the first goal of the game with assists from Jeremy Hannah and Taylor Joseph, and 15:25 left to play in the first. With 11:22 left in the period, a penalty on Mercyhurst gave Hannah the chance to score a penalty shot, but the Lakers made the save.

Mercyhurst’s Paolo Sivilotti was sent to the penalty box for slashing with just 26 seconds left on the clock in the first. Alabama entered the second period on the power play but was unable to take advantage.

The remainder of the period went quiet until about ten minutes in. With 9:53 on the clock, Dylan Teed put the puck in the net with assists from Jack Rooney and Taylor Bowman. Minutes later, Nick Messina scored with an assist from Hannah, and upped Alabama’s lead to three goals.

Mercyhurst responded in the third and Dawson Richard scored just 1:34 into the period. With 13:19 left to play, Nate Shermo scored another goal for Mercyhurst and cut Alabama’s lead to one.

With 6:07 left to play in the game, Pierre Ouellette was sent to the penalty box for tripping and Mercyhurst was able to score on the power play to tie up the game. Just 42 seconds into overtime, Mercyhurst’s Tim Weisgerber put the puck in the net for the game winning goal.

Alabama returns to the Pelham Civic Complex on Friday, Jan. 12 to play John Carroll. Puck drops at 7 p.m. CT.
