TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Hockey Club is excited to announce the second annual Teddy Toss at the Pelham Civic Complex. The event will be held at the team’s first game in the newly renovated arena on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. CT against Midland. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game and throw it on the ice after Alabama scores its first goal of the game.
All collected teddy bears will be donated to the Tuscaloosa Police Department (TPD). The men and women of the TPD will hand out teddy bears and stuffed animals to young children in the wake of a natural disaster or traumatic experience.
“The Teddy Toss game is all about the police and first responders of Tuscaloosa, as well as children in the area who are going through tough times,” Alabama Hockey Club President Jonathan Lovorn said. “We are very grateful for the work they do in our community and hope that loads of fans come out to participate in such a great event.”
Fans can bring a stuffed animal donation to the game to get discounted tickets: $5 for adults, $3 for alumni, and $1 for UA students and children under 12. Donations can also be made at Alabama’s on-campus Greek houses during a week-long Teddy Toss drive from Dec. 5 until Dec. 7, or at the Ferguson Student Center on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
