Alabama Cracks ACHA Top-25

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama Hockey is ranked No. 25 in the most recent ACHA Division-I Coaches’ Poll release on Sept. 21. It is the first time the program has been ranked in a national poll.

The team had been ranked as high as second in their region while competing at the ACHA Division-III level, but those rankings were broken down into individual regions. Alabama enters the top 25 after knocking off then-No. 7 Oklahoma on Saturday night, 9-2. The Sooners dropped to No. 11.

“I’m really proud of the players and everyone in the organization for achieving the first ranking in program history,” head coach John Bierchen said. “The standard of excellence we have set here is high and it’s paying off.”

Alabama is off this week, but travels to No. 17 Liberty on Sept. 30 for a two game series. The complete rankings are below.
