The Alabama Hockey Team is taking the ice against Auburn this Friday at the Pelham Civic Center. This will be Auburn’s first game of the season while Alabama has a 0-2 record.
Alabama and Auburn have had a contested history and a rivalry dating back to 1907 when violence erupted between the two teams at the Iron Bowl over coaching staff and player formations.
Heading into Friday, the Alabama Hockey Team will try for its 21st win against the Tigers. In other words, Alabama has never lost to Auburn on the ice.
For longtime Alabama fan and Huntsville native, Captain Will Zeek, the opportunity to play against Auburn is “unreal,” and he is “so excited to keep the Iron Cup in Alabama.”
Assistant Captain and Club President, Trey Howes compared this game day to “waking up on Christmas morning.”
According to Howes, the senior and fifth year players have said that playing Auburn is intense but nonetheless fun. This will be the players first time playing the Tigers.
Tickets for General Admission are $10, and the first 50 fans in the arena win a free t-shirt.
